Overview

The United Republic  of Tanzania’s current Law of Immigration and Citizenship   came in to force  in 1995. The Immigration Act No. 7 of 1995 and the Tanzania Citizenship No. 6 of 1995 and their succeeding Regulations were the results of the repeal of the (colonial)outdated Laws followed by ultimate harmonization of Emigration Control Decree of Zanzibar 1964 and Immigration Act 1963 which were separately used by the Governments of Tanzania mainland and Tanzania Island (Zanzibar).

Among other things, The Laws destined to observe and maintain and to ensure National security; to facilitate entry, exit and stay of all Immigrants and/or Emigrants Immigrants like Investors, Tourists, Experts, Missionaries, Students, Researchers and Others with a view to promoting Investments and Tourism for National Socio-economic Development, facilitate exit and entry of Tanzania Citizens traveling abroad for both private and public affairs.
